Fire Behaviour Of Timber-concrete Composite Slabs

Fontana, M. and Frangi, A., 2000. Fire Behaviour Of Timber-concrete Composite Slabs. Fire Safety Science 6: 891-902. doi:10.3801/IAFSS.FSS.6-891

ABSTRACT

The experience of fire spread in old timber houses has resulted in a limitation of the use of timber in multi-storey buildings in the fire regulations of many countries. Timber-concrete composite elements show promise to overcome this handicap thus allowing an extended use of the sustainable building material timber. Results of fire tests on the behavior of timber concrete composite slabs are described and compared with design methods for timber in fire.
