Towards An Integrated Egress/evacuation Model Using An Open Systems Approach

Maclennan, H.A., 1986. Towards An Integrated Egress/evacuation Model Using An Open Systems Approach. Fire Safety Science 1: 581-590. doi:10.3801/IAFSS.FSS.1-581

ABSTRACT

Egress Research is fragmented through being too narrowly focused. This research can be categorized into Behavior and Movement. The Paper discusses the various evacuation models available and how they have not made the necessary allowances for all the aspects of egress. A new model in the process of development is briefly discussed that will use an open systems approach to egress from buildings.
