ABSTRACT
A preliminary survey shows that 88 persons died in fires in the third quarter of 1970. Of those 79 were in England and Wales, 8 in Scotland and one in Northern Ireland. The worst incidents in this quarter were a road traffic accident in Birkenhead (7 deaths) and a multiple occupancy house in Wembley (6 deaths).
