The
organizers:
The
International Association for Fire Safety Science as principal
organizer and the vfdb e.V. (German Fire Protection Association)
for local support, pursue a strategy of promoting the exchange
of knowledge between experts in the field of fire safety
science. The German association, which was founded in 1950,
is a chartered non-profit association that organizes research
and development in fire safety and fire science. This is
accomplished through interaction at annual meetings, international
symposia, and working group activities on various topics.
. Through the experience and input from both associations
and the contributions by authors that are at the very front
of fire safety science, the 9th IAFSS symposium is expected
to be an outstanding congress in 2008!
The
co-organizers:
The University of Karlsruhe (Technical University
founded in 1825) is an institution of excellence in research
and academic education, and is especially well-known for
its expertise in various engineering disciplines. The Department
of Chemical Engineering is home to the Research Centre for
Fire Protection Technology, whose mission is aimed at investigating
subjects that primarily meet the science based interest
of the fire service. Since its foundation in 1950, the Research
Centre has contributed to the development of the field of
fire safety science. In collaboration with vfdb, several
international symposia have been hosted providing a forum
for scientists from all over the world to exchange information
on their most recent technical accomplishments.
The
Ministry of the Interior, Baden-Württemberg State is
concerned with issues such as
fire fighters safety as well as support to professional
and voluntary fire brigades in the State. It is deeply involved
in fire research of the Länder (States of the Federal
Republic of Germany). The support for the symposium is wide
spread and in particular supports the unique social evening
at the Fire School.
