The Symposium will be held in the Adele H. Stamp Student Union Building centrally located on the campus of the University of Maryland at College Park (USA). The University enjoys convenient air access from around the world through three airports: Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall airport (BWI), Reagan National airport (DCA) and Dulles International airport (IAD). The University is located near the Washington Metrorail Green line that provides easy access to Washington DC and surrounding suburbs.

Meeting and hotel booking for participants and their companions will be available via links from this site in mid February 2011. Meeting registration will include online access to full papers and posters as well as a hard copy of the symposium proceedings to be produced after the symposium.

As the state's flagship university, the University of Maryland at College Park educates 37,000 of the most talented students from Maryland and beyond. The University has a long standing tradition of teaching science and engineering. The A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland hosts more than 4500 students, 200 faculty members and 8 Academic Departments including the Department of Fire Protection Engineering.

The Department of Fire Protection Engineering was established in 1956 and offers the only ABET-accredited Undergraduate program in the U.S. The Department has 8 faculty members and state-of-the-art research and testing facilities, including the new Fire Testing and Evaluation Center (FireTEC); it is a leading institution actively involved in the education of fire protection engineering, the development of the professional practice and the advancement of fire safety science.
